City Hospital, B18 7QH – Car parking is entered from the Western Road entrances. The Postgraduate Department is well signposted. If travelling by bus, then it is at the end of the long corridor from the A&E department.

By Road

From London, South East, North West or North East.

  • Whether travelling from the M1, M40, M42 or M69, follow the signs to the M6.
  • Leave the M6 at Junction 6 (Spaghetti Junction) Then take the A38 Aston Expressway.
  • Follow signs to Birmingham Central.
  • Off the Expressway take the 2nd exit, follow signs to the Convention Centre.
  • At the roundabout take the 3rd exit.
  • Carry straight on through four sets of traffic lights to a roundabout.
  • Straight on at the roundabout along a dual carriage way to a 2nd roundabout.
  • Carry straight on at the roundabout and continue along the dual carriage way, past signs for the Jewellry quarter.
  • At the roundabout turn right onto Dudley Rd.
  • Continue up the hill, through the traffic lights and City Hospital is on the right.

From Wales and South West

  • M5 – Junction 3, Birmingham Central.
  • At the exit roundabout head for Birmingham City Centre A456 and continue for 3 miles to the Outer Ring Road and signs for Winson Green A4040, turn left into Barnsley Road, then right into Sandon Road.
  • Then turn left into City Road, continue for 1 mile until the T junction with Dudley Road (traffic lights).
  • Turn right into Dudley Road (City Centre bound) and the hospital is 600m on the left.

By Bus

11 Birmingham Outer Circle Route. Stops outside the hospital on Aberdeen Street. 

979 Birmingham – Wolverhampton. Stops outside the Hospital main entrance 

66-66E Birmingham – Soho and Nechells / Sutton Coldfield via Ladywood Stops on Northbrook St. & Summerfield 

81 Birmingham – via Hockley. Stops on Western Rd. by the Eye & Hearing Services Centres 

82 Birmingham – Bearwood via Dudley Rd. Stops outside the Hospital’s main entrance 

87 Birmingham – Dudley via Smethwick & Olbury. Stops outside the main entrance 

88 Birmingham – Oldbury via Londonderry & Langley. Stops outside the main entrance 

443 Birmingham – Warley. Stops outside the Hospital’s main entrance

By Train

The nearest train station is Birmingham New Street Station. There are regular buses which stop on Dudley Road, the bus numbers are: 82, 87 and 88
