Essay Questions.

Answer 2 questions only. Time allowed 1 hour 30 minutes

  1. Outline the causes of diabetes insipidus. Discuss its diagnosis and investigation and the principles of its management.
  2. Describe the methods for the assessment of CSF xanthochromia. What are the indications for its measurement and the precautions that need to be observed in interpreting the results?
  3. Critically discuss current laboratory methods for Vitamin D and PTH measurement
  4. The biochemistry laboratory has a role in the management of heart failure – critically discuss.
